QUESTIONS TO ASK AN SEO

seo questionsSo now you know that you need to information gather from the companies that you are considering to have manage your search engine optimization, but you still feel a little unsure as to what you are looking for. Keep in mind that asking questions is really the key, because if you ask enough questions you can usually spot a problem right away. The following are some good questions to pose to a potential SEO:

  1. How long have you been in business? Keep in mind that time is the true test of a SEO company. The reason for this is clients will find out within a few months time if they are real or bogus. Keep in mind that if they say 30 years, then they are yanking your chain, because SEO management is a relatively new field. At least try to get with a company that has a few years experience.
  2. Do you have any clients that I can speak to about your company? Of course, normally, any good business person will only refer you to someone who will give a glowing review, however honestly, sometimes they slip up. When speaking to their client, try to ask a few open ended questions about their experiences. This will help insure that you are given time to listen to them speak, and hear what they are not saying.
  3. What is your current Google ranking? You are asking this question with dual purpose. On the one hand to find out how and where they are ranked under select keywords. On the other you can find out how well they are monitoring their own progress. The care they take with their own business is likely to be more thorough than the care they will take with yours. It is for this reason that you want to be sure that they are doing everything possible to manage their own. The more management they do on their own website, the more management they will likely do with yours.
  4. Can I speak with the owner? It is important to feel that you know a company inside and out, you are not just hiring a company, but people that you will need to be in contact with over a few months time at least, so be sure that you know who is in charge and what they are about. This way if a problem does arise you have already made the contact.
  5. Do you have a small starter package? Most companies realizing the importance of SEO management want to rush right in and do it all at once. Since SEO management is a building process that takes time, sometimes it is best to start with a smaller package and find out a little bit more about the company before investing the bigger dollars in a huge marketing strategy. Once you have felt out the company, then you can go full force into it.
